The World Premiere of "On This Muddy Water": Voices from the Houston Ship Channel was performed on Wednesday, December 10th, at the Julia Ideson Library in Houston, TX. Additional performances will take place on December 17, January 7, and 21 at 5:30 p.m., all at the Julia Ideson Library. The partner exhibit, Stories of a Workforce: Celebrating the Centennial of the Houston Ship Channel, will be on view until January 31, 2015.

The music for this piece was composed by D. J. Sparr, and the ensemble included Lauren Pastorek (mezzo-soprano), Heath Martin (baritone), Melissa Wilmot (violin), Erik Wheeler (cello), Eric Chi (clarinet), and Lindsey Höhn (percussion).

Each performance will feature a member of the Ship Channel Community. Gordie Keenan of Higman Marine shared some of his own experiences during the World Premiere.
